FAQ

What materials do you use to build your mud kitchens?

Our bases are made from pine and finished with exterior paint or deck sealer. The shelf, countertop, and back splash are cedar and sealed for outdoor use on all models except the compact unfinished. A full cedar base upgrade is available.

Are your mud kitchens weather-resistant?

Yes! Cedar is naturally rot-resistant, and the painted or sealed pine bases are made for the outdoors. For best results, place your kitchen in a shaded area and cover it during long periods of heavy weather or off-season storage.

What maintenance is required?

  • Rinse or wipe down occasionally
  • Reapply a clear outdoor sealer to the cedar parts once a year
  • Check the painted pine base and touch up or repaint as needed

A little care goes a long way toward keeping your kitchen looking great.

What sizes do you offer?

We offer four widths and three counter heights:

Widths:

  • Compact – 35″ wide (best for toddlers and small spaces)
  • Standard – 53″ wide (most popular)
  • Large – 59″ wide (great for two kids)
  • XL – 65″ wide (extra roomy)

Counter Heights:

  • Short – 20″ (toddlers ages 1.5–3)
  • Medium – 23″ (most kids ages 3–6)
  • Tall – 27″ (grows with older kids)

If you’re unsure, medium height is a safe bet!

Can I customize my mud kitchen?

Yes! You can customize:

  • Paint or finish
  • Sink options
  • Cedar base upgrade
  • Layout, shelves, and hooks
  • Even size and dimensions

What ages are your mud kitchens best for?

Our kitchens are best for ages 2–8, but we’ve had older kids (and grownups!) enjoy them too.
